Localisation

The port of Les Sables d’Olonne (46 30 N 1 48 W) is located almost equal distance from the mouth of the Loire (Nantes-St Nazaire) and the port of La Rochelle.

Access channel

Channel over 1000 m long. It is possible at any time of the year (even during dead water periods) to receive vessels with a draft of 5 m at open sea, this can reach 6m / 6m50 in high water periods.

Pilotage & Lamanage

The pilot station at Les Sables d’Olonne ensures the entry, exit, exit and mooring of ships day and night. Pilotage is compulsory for vessels over 50m.

Equipments

Le Bassin à flot : an area of ​​around 4 ha, dredged to the coast – 1.50 m. Useful width of the sluice: 17 m. Maximum length of vessels that may frequent the wet dock: 110 m with a width of about 16 m. Ships up to 4000 / 5500 T (during favorable tides) can enter and exit loaded. The Bassin à Flot has 5 berths, allocated according to the nature of the goods.

The Stores, Depots : located in the periphery of the wet basin, were made by private financing. Some of these books can be made available to users. A general store is also operational.

Storage space: In the western part of the North quay, there is a storage area for outdoor storage.
